Extreme def: furthest from the centre or a given point

How far out of your comfort zone do you want to go?

To the adrenalin junkies out there the activity is not extreme enough until the blood is pumping behind their eyes and they fear that they may not see tomorrow but for others, me included, adventure takes my breath away but without me getting out of breath.

Here are some local ideas for more extreme activities… and some of them even offer a discount to our guests.  See discounts HERE

Bushcraft + Survival Training

Did you know that Bear Grylls has a private island just up the coast from us?  You probably won't get to meet the man himself but the Bear Grylls Survival Academy offer half day "taster" courses near to Criccieth.  More details HERE

Canoeing, Kayaking + White Water Rafting

Mountains and white water often go together.  Our area is no exception and we have the National White Water Centre almost on our doorstep.  The river Tryweryn is a dam released river and so there is almost always water to paddle on.  The Centre offers lots of different experiences from family rafting safaris to full blown Orca Adventures.  See their website HERE Cadair View Lodge guests receive 10% Discount HERE

Also see Bala Watersports who offer kayaking and canoeing in the area plus hire and Snowdonia Adventure Activites.  For coaching check out FlowFree

Canyoning, Coasteering, Gorge Walking and Gorge Scrambling

All of these activities involve donning a wetsuit, helmet and buoyancy aid then launching yourself down a river, over a waterfall or off a cliff into the sea.  Different locations offer different challenges.  Some of the companies offering this include Bach Adventures, Seren Ventures, Snowdonia Adventure Activities, Snowdonia Adventures, Bala Watersports and Canyon Wales who offer Cadair View Lodge guests 10% discount.

Climbing and Scrambling

There are lots of places to climb and scramble within the Snowdonia National Park.  To find a location it's best to visit one of the many websites explaining each location in detail.

To improve skills and learn to climb indoors try The Rock at Harlech Leisure Centre or Beacon Climbing Centre (about 60 minutes drive).

For outdoor climbing with an instructor try: Bach Adventures, Seren Ventures, Snowdonia Adventure Activities, Snowdonia Adventures, Bala Watersports, RAW Adventures

Extreme Ironing

Yes, you read that correctly!  It's the sport of doing your ironing in the most extreme places.  Take a look at some images HERE   Unfortunately no local activity providers offer this and you will need to bring your own equipment.

High Ropes Courses

Would you like to swing through the trees like an ape?  Then try one of our local high ropes courses Get Wet  ZipWorld Fforest who offer Cadair View Lodge guests 10% discount.

Snowdon Ascent

Climb Snowdon with a qualified leader.  If you are unsure of  the route, how to navigate adequately in all conditions or would like encouragement to give you the confidence to attain the summit then walk with a qualified leader.  See what Climb Snowdon offer HERE

Walking With A Leader

Several local guides can put together a bespoke walking package for you.  Work with them to walk the route that you'd like to walk.  Get help with navigation and learn the skills yourself in a real live situation.  Walk with a leader to give you confidence to achieve your goals.  Companies who offer a guiding service RAW Adventures
